My top 10 for 2016

Today is the first day of 2017.

The start of a brand new year is always a good chance to look ahead. To set goals for the coming year and to start with a clean slate.

Today I would like to do 'The Opposite' and look back on this blog for 2016.

I started this on April 3rd 2016 without really a theme. I didn't know where I was going with it and it was something to do. Since then it has turned into a blog about the relationship between the more extroverted people in this society and lets say the more introverted people.

Today lets look at the top 10 posts in my opinion from this blog. So far I have posted 273 times, only missing one day in which I believed advice which turned out to be wrong.

Anyway, lets have a look at 10 blog posts that I enjoyed writing throughout the year.

NUMBER ONE:

https://dailyrbl.blogspot.co.nz/2016/10/what-do-brendon-mccullum-ross-taylor.html

This post took me the longest time out of all of the posts. I did quite a bit of research especially about King George VI and King Edward VIII because my knowledge of those people in history was not very good and most of it was from the movie The King's Speech.

It was interesting comparing two people from history and two people from New Zealand sport. It has got me thinking about other 'pairs' in our society. Watch this space.

NUMBER TWO:

https://dailyrbl.blogspot.co.nz/2016/12/what-santas-introvert.html

This is a recent post and it was just a fun one about Santa Claus. A lot of people celebrate Christmas and we think of Santa Claus as being a jolly fellow but if we look at it closely all the evidence is that Santa Claus likes to spend time by himself or with close friends and Mrs. Claus so a classic introvert right there.

NUMBER THREE:

https://dailyrbl.blogspot.co.nz/2016/09/unconventional-is-good-word.html

Being called unconventional was really interesting for me. At first glance the word unconventional could come across as being negative and it could be construed as a bit of a put down but if you really think about we wouldn't have things like Apple or Facebook or Virgin if the people who created these companies were conventional. Unconventional is a good thing.

NUMBER FOUR:

https://dailyrbl.blogspot.co.nz/2016/09/how-to-be-comfortable-in-uncomfortable.html?spref=fb

We are all going to be in situations where you are going to be uncomfortable. It is just a part of life. The best way to overcome this is to put yourself in these uncomfortable situations more and more often so that it feels comfortable. It is like being rejected. The more you get rejected, the more you hear the word no the easier it is to cope with it.

NUMBER FIVE:

https://dailyrbl.blogspot.co.nz/2016/08/are-you-like-schwarzenegger-or-are-you.html

This is a classic movie/documentary starring the redoubtable Arnold Schwarzenegger. Before i had started writing this blog I had never noticed the relationship between Arnold and Lou but it was interesting analysing their relationship after knowing what was going on and the differing personalities.

NUMBER SIX:

引き籠もり
Throughout the year I tried to introduce some Japanese concepts. This one was one of them. Introversion and extroversion is very much like politics in that you can identify yourself on a spectrum as opposed to one thing or another. If the 7 day a week party animal is on the right this person would have to be on the left.

NUMBER SEVEN:

https://dailyrbl.blogspot.co.nz/2016/07/she-bangs-she-bangs.html

In this blog we were introduced to the concept of the situational extrovert where the more introverted of us climb out of our shells and make an impact on the people around us. This post focused on American Idol 'superstar' William Hung. He had everyone laughing at him but because he got out of his shell he was able to make an impact and a little bit of money.

NUMBER EIGHT:

https://dailyrbl.blogspot.co.nz/2016/06/float-like-butterfly-talk-like.html

We have said farewell to many people in 2016. In the sporting world, the biggest name to pass away was Muhammad Ali. In this post I asked the question if he would have been considered the greatest if he was introverted. Probably not. His charisma and gift of the gab really heightened his persona and I wondered if he would be the greatest if he was quieter.

NUMBER NINE:

https://dailyrbl.blogspot.co.nz/2016/05/eating-alone.html

This post was one of the more interesting ones. I have loved eating Korean food ever since I first went there almost 20 years ago. I did not know about this eating alone thing in that it is frowned upon. I will be careful from now on in the Korean restaurants.

NUMBER TEN:

https://dailyrbl.blogspot.co.nz/2016/05/what-do-foxes-say.html

2016 was certainly the year of the underdog in world sport and in my opinion the champions of the English Premier League, Leicester City were the biggest upset of them all.

What is 2017 going to bring? Who knows? I'm sure that there are going to be many many different stories told.
